The Guard is an Irish comedy starring Brendan Gleeson and Don Cheadle as cops caught up in a big drug smuggling case. Gleeson is the small town copper and Cheadle is the FBI agent working the case and they end up working together on it. It's very funny in places and well worth watching!

The Inbetweeners
The Inbetweeners film stars the usual 4 blokes pretending to be teenagers up to the usual mischief but set in Malia, Crete. Not much to say about it that you can't get from watching the trailer really. Some funny bits but not amazing and a bit cheesy at the end. Think it's not a bad idea for them to stop now as the last series was mostly pretty shite!

Beautiful Lies
Beautiful Lies is a French film starring Audrey Tautou as the co-owner of a hairdressing salon who receives an anonymous love letter from a man who works for her. She decides to try to cheer her mum up by copying it and sending it to her and starts a farcical sequence of events. It was enjoyable but got a bit ridiculous at times and went on a bit. Worth a watch though.

Horrible Bosses, Captain America and Super 8
I've been a bit slack with these as I saw Horrible Bosses a couple of weeks ago. I wasn't feeling well when I saw it which may have influenced how I felt about it but I didn't love it. It has a great cast including Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis and Jennifer Aniston and is about 3 guys and their horrible bosses that they decide to kill to make their lives easier. I felt it was just the trailer (which was funny) with a few other little bits holding it together.
Captain America is pretty much what you'd expect from the trailers. Weedy man gets turned into big beefy man, a.k.a Captain America and saves the day. Enjoyable nonsense starring Chris Evans!
I saw Super 8 yesterday having seen the trailers periodically over several months and wasn't massively impressed by what 'd seen initially. The main reason was that it said it was written and directed by J.J. Abrams who also made Cloverfield and it looked similar in terms of an unknown threat that seemed like it must be a scary monster, I really didn't like Cloverfield very much. It's produced by Spielberg and is clearly an homage to many of his films such as E.T., Close Encounters and The Goonies as is set in the late 70's and really feels like it although doesn't look dated like some of those older films do. The young cast are very good as this group of kids making a film who get caught up in the drama of a massive train crash which signals the start of some sinister activity in their small town. There was lots of action and it was a really enjoyable film - possibly the best I've seen all year!
